Hand Therapy FAQ

We work on hands and more. Our hand therapists treat issues from shoulder to fingertips. We provide rehabilitation for recovery from accident, injury, or surgery. We also provide pre- and post-operative therapy and rehab.

If you or someone you love has arthritis, tennis elbow, carpal tunnel syndrome, trigger finger, rotator cuff issues, or another shoulder, arm, elbow, wrist, hand, thumb, or finger problem, we can help.

Our Hand Therapy clinic serves both adults and children who are recovering from accident, injury, overuse, as well as pre- and post-surgical conditions. We give highly individualized care with the utmost concern for our patients’ progress in a relaxed, friendly, and positive environment. Hand therapy is a natural, safe, non-invasive method of therapy. We use a holistic, science-based approach to treat each patient. Hand therapy can help you restore or improve function and relieve pain in a short period of time, so you can get back to your life and doing the things you love.

The safety and health of our patients and staff is our highest priority. We practice stringent cleaning and disinfection protocols before and after each patient appointment. We follow all CDC, OSHA, and WA State Department of Health guidelines to ensure your safety.

To begin treatment at our Hand Clinic, call 425-892-2243 or request new patient forms online via our Intake page. A doctor’s referral is required in order to start treatment. If you would like assistance with this, we’re happy to contact your doctor to request the referral (just let us know).

As a courtesy, we may contact your insurance company to verify eligibility and determine if authorization is needed for treatment. Once the referral from your doctor and insurance authorization are received, we will contact you to schedule your initial evaluation appointment.

When coming to the Hand Clinic for your first appointment, here’s what to expect >>

At the initial evaluation, you will be asked to fill out a survey about how your injury or condition is affecting your activities of daily living. The therapist will review your intake paperwork, chart notes we’ve received from your doctor, and surgical report (if you are post-op).

In the treatment room, the therapist will discuss your condition, your pain level, and your goals for recovery. They will also measure your range of motion and evaluate the condition, issue, or body part that requires treatment. Based on this assessment, the therapist will recommend an individualized treatment plan to help you successfully return to function in your daily life, work, and play.

At BPHT, we utilize safe, non-invasive, science-based natural rehabilitation methods to help patients heal and restore function. These methods include:

  • manual therapy
  • paraffin and moist heat
  • custom braces, splinting or casting
  • activity modification
  • range of motion exercises
  • isometric strengthening exercises
  • home exercise programs
  • Class IV laser therapy (billed separately)
  • And more…

Treatment duration and frequency varies by condition, pain level, and degree of loss of function. On average, our patients receive therapy 2x/week for 4-8 weeks. Some patients may come less/ more frequently or for longer than 8 weeks, depending on their individual circumstance and therapy goals.

At your initial evaluation, the therapist will recommend an individualized treatment plan based on your specific condition and recovery goals. Adherence to the recommended treatment plan and your home exercise program will enable you to successfully heal and restore function in a reasonable period of time.

We recommend that you bring your calendar with you, in order to schedule out your series of appointments after your initial evaluation.
